Mars has three aspects from where it’s placed, the 4th, 7th, and 8th.
To understand these aspects, let’s look at Mars as a warrior. Example: Mars aspects the 8th house.
1/ The 4th Aspect of Mars on any house represents the area from which we seek comfort and security. There, the warrior helps the King (Sun) keep things organised through rules and orders.
- If the 4th aspect of Mars falls on the 8th house, the person makes the rules or plans about how to proceed with the family life after marriage. For example, I go out and work, you stay home and take care of the children. He is establishing a structure here. Mars is in the 5th house now, in the king’s position. The person plays a dominating role in a relationship.
2/ The 7th aspect of Mars on any house is where we set the boundary. Here is the border. We will try to strengthen and protect at all costs. The battlefield also happens at the border, when there’s conflict.
- Mars is debilitated in Cancer, where Jupiter is exalted. When Mars goes into the 4th House, Arjuna must kneel before Sri Krishna. Mars is exalted in Capricorn (the battlefield), where Jupiter is debilitated because the Guru does not fight. Sri Krishna gives a lecture to Arjuna that it’s his responsibility as a warrior to protect his home. If he doesn’t fight, his people will suffer. If you’re in the 4th House, then go back to the 10th house (7th aspect) and strengthen the border!
If the 7th aspect of Mars falls on the 8th house, the person will try to protect their family income after marriage. Mars is in the second house now. They will work for the security of the family.

3/ The 8th aspect of Mars on any house is the trigger to start a war. The 7th house from Mars is the border. When something or somebody oversteps the border, that’s the signal of conflict. That means the 8th house from wherever Mars is placed in our chart. We don’t want other people to see, to talk negatively about, or to disturb us. It’s the limit that most of us can’t tolerate.
- If the 8th aspect of Mars falls on the 8th house. The person does not like other people to talk about, to disturb his wife, his family business, his inheritance, or his in-laws. That’s where you see the advantage of knowing a little bit about astrology can help us avoid conflict in daily life. If we do not know, but accidentally keep repeating over and over again that matter in front of that person. We might be involved in a fight that we do not wish for. Mars is in the 1st house now. He gets upset about those 8th house matters.
Mars in the 1st house does not turn the person into a Hulk all the time. The “anger issue”, which is discussed in the mainstream, only happens when other people step into the 8th house. They are nice people, too. Learn astrology properly, and we all start to look at humanity differently, at least less judgmental.
