To see the effect of Rahu in Cancer, I suggest you stay with the Vedic Concept. I acknowledge that the tropical system works like anything. If the chart reader studied the depth of the tropical system, he could predict as good as a Vedic Astrologer can. Two systems work. No further questions needed. But when it comes to the North and South Node, aka Rahu and Ketu, there is not enough information from the tropical system.

  • Side note: This is a fact, you’re welcome to double-check. There was a conference in Greece. Both scholars sat together and exchanged knowledge between using tropical system and the Vedic system. Both agreed on the total Period is 120 years (total length of the Dasa of 9 planets). When it comes to the calculation in detail, the Indian spots the mistake in the calculation of the colleague. He missed Ketu, though they said 120 years, but their total was only 113 years. It’s difficult to beat an indian in math. The Vedic astrologer peacefully explained, and from that moment, Ketu (the south node) exists in the tropical horoscope. On some websites TODAY, you can check that when you look for the Node, it still shows only the North Node in the chart. Of course, the South Node is exactly opposite. But some “painful experience” in the past just can’t be overcome. They don’t put the south node in the search engine/chart. You can see that it hurts because they still refuse to use the word “Rahu and Ketu”, even though they accepted the mistake in the calculation, but they would rather use the North and South Nodes.
  • In Indian Literature, there are hundreds of stories related to Rahu and Ketu that the sages told. We use it to understand the significations. With the new words “north and south nodes,” you have to define them from zero, and start to add information to them. If the Ego issue is still there, it’d take them maybe another 5000 years to understand Rahu and Ketu.
  • Here we are sharing information freely for everyone to know, to learn, and make better predictions! If you think it’s useful, then just use it!

Some general traits of Rahu in Cancer:

Rahu has an airy and foggy nature (the north node can’t do that :p it’s just me being sarcastic), in Cancer (water, emotional). The water makes the fog look beautiful. Have you ever walked along the river/canal in the morning? The fog did not affect the water. Generally, Rahu is uncomfortable in water signs. Whatever Cancer represents, Rahu will shake.

  • Homelife is disturbed.
  • Mother is often the one who leads the family, and also often suffers from stress.
  • One went through depression himself during Rahu Dasa.
  • The rest you can find in the “tropical explanation”. They really did a good job there. Some have already answered this question before I do. You can go and read! I will continue with the Vedic System.

Water makes Rahu look beautiful. Rahu Dasa usually gives good results to the native. Let’s look at a few good and bad examples:

Example 1, Rahu Moon in Cancer, the native was super successful in Rahu Dasa, but also suffered from depression and recovered from alcohol addiction. Rahu in the 2nd House makes one overindulgent in food and drinks. That can’t be avoided.

Example 2: Rahu Mars in the 9th House. Still successful but less than before. I don’t know if the person has taken any advice from anybody. But in Dasa of Rahu, the person switches career to a place where it’s favorable with Rahu. Family life, completely disturbed. The 9th House represents Father. Rahu Cancer 9th, does not know who the father is. Confirmation must be checked in the divisional charts. It does not matter, still be successful in life.

Example 3: The result is bad.

1/ No rule works for every chart. The whole horoscope must be seen.

2/ It’s not because Rahu is alone. I have other Charts, even when Rahu is alone in Cancer, the result is still good.

If you see, Mars, as the 8th Lord in the 6th house, is it a good yoga? NOOOO! Mars in the lagna lord, 8th lord. When the 8th Lord is placed in the Jeeva (soul) Sign (this concept only exists in Vedic Astrology, I think) + Rahu is in the “heart” of the chart. It’s terrible.

The other 2 example charts are good. The Jeeva Signs are not affected.

In the next Q&A, there’s a question related to Rahu in Cancer. We will look further into the details.

Hope this helps,

A
